C++

C++ is a programming language used by most modern game companies. With the occasional use of C# which you can make use of with the XNA game engine that was put out by Microsoft to help influence young people to get out there and do something productive. I'm not able to download it though because it requires directx9 and knowledge of C# of which i have neither. anyways back to the point, in most websites for gaming companies if you look under any type of description for a job, you will most likely 99 times out of 100 find that it asks that you have fluent knowledge of the C++ language. So if anyone plans on being anything in the industry besides the guy who plays the game. I suggest you start learning C++. I came across a book after Christmas when i was searching the aisles of Barnes & Nobles with my gift certificate. I found a book called: Beginning C++, through game programming. The book was written by Michael Dawson, who literally starts with the very basics. Its hard to find a book like this because it seems to me that every computer book i pick requires knowledge of a different language that i never seem to know. Example: I cant learn ASP.NET without already knowing VB.NET but i'm not able to learn VB.NET unless i have a grasp on ASP.NET it drives me up the wall. So i was suprised at how well Mr. Dawson understands that you just want to get the show on the road and not have to read ten other books to do it. By the ending of the first chapter you feel as though your ready to take on an actual game. By the fifth chapter you have created a game, its not high speed or anything, but you have created simple word jumbles by that point. On my rating scale i give this book a 20 out of 20. A perfect score for the perfect book it gives tips and tricks and facts about what would happen in the real world if you were to use a certain code. So if your wanting to get into the industry get out there and get this book.
