Call Of Duty 4 Review

This game has it all. From close to perfect online play to a killer campaign story line and play. If you feel the need to go kick someones ass and get rewarded for it this is THE game. Lets start with the campaign, the only thing that could be better about this is if Co-op play was an option. I mean occasionally its awesome to have an actual human by our side in such an intense FPS. In the campaign you are always fighting as either the S.A.S which is the British Special forces group.
(Special Air Service) or your playing as an American marine. This seems to be a big cliche in FPS today, your never in the army your always a damn marine or a "space" marine. Don't get me wrong I respect everything the actual marines do for us but i think its about time the army got its dues too. Well anyways, the first level F.N.G has an obstacle course of which helps you prepare for the next level and if you complete it in under 20 seconds you get an achievement. The best time in the world is close to 10 seconds flat i believe, my best time is 17.15 seconds. Along with that the battle fields in the game are open and allow for special tactics seeing as in this game certain weapons can shoot through certain things. Example: A pistol can shoot through a wooden wall no problem, but an your Mp5 can shoot straight through the sides of cars or trashcans. IN the campaign there is a mission that requires perfect stealth, if you try to Rambo it you die...simple and plain. This sounds pretty stupid and difficult at first but playing it is a whole different story its suspenseful and i didn't even realize until the mission was over that i had been sitting on the edge of my seat the entire time. The mission after that starts with a .50 cal sniper rifle(the barret). and requires actual skills. Your target is one of the four bad guys your trying to catch through out the entire game his name is Imran Zakhaev and if you take a shot as soon as he comes into your sights the bullet will curve in a different direction. The wind and the Coriolis effect come into play making the game one of the most realistic games ever. The artificial intelligence is almost programming at it's best. After you have completed the entire game on any level, you earn a secret level and something called arcade mode. Arcade mode allows you to play any mission or the entire game with a limited amount of lives, and for every kill you get and everything you do you earn a certain amount of points. The more style the more points. The more up close the more points. Or The more skillful(sniping) the more points.

The multi-player is a whole different story. There are fifty - five ranks to go through, and you earn them by killing people, capturing flags, planting bombs and so on and so forth. As you advance in the ranks you earn new weapons, and things called "perks" which are little special abilities that help in an actual match. As you earn these weapons you can make custom packs out of them and then give the pack a special name. My personal favorite perk is the overkill perk that allows you to carry two primary weapons. I put in my >50 caliber sniper rifle and my trusty M4 carbine with a silencer on and double tap(two bullets come out of every shot). Then of course i put in some claymores, and its off to battle. After you've achieved all 55 levels you must gain 4,000 more XP ( experience points) and you earn Prestige mode. If you choose to go into prestige mode, you go back to level one as a private. You lose all your weapons, and you get a little symbol next to your name so everyone knows you bad ass. You can do this NINE times. Each level of prestige has a different symbol so people don't get you confused with other levels.
That about sums it up for call of duty 4. If there is something not quite registering about this game just yet, then your one of the people who needs to go get the game and play it for his or her self, it will pull you in and not let go its a masterpiece in the game world and i for one am going to give it a 19 out of 20. One point is being deducted for not putting in a co-op mode other than split screen AGAINST each other. Play it. Buy it. Love it.
